Join industry peers in Houston to discuss ’Pathways to Sustainability’

HOUSTON – Jan. 14, 2016 – -  North American Marine Environment Protection Association (NAMEPA) is holding its Environmental Intelligence in Shipping Conference on “Pathways to Sustainability” on Feb. 5, 2016 at SeaRiver Maritime in Spring, Texas from 0730 to 1600hrs. This conference is designed to be a guide for navigating through the myriad of regulations leading to compliance.

The maritime industry faces continual regulatory change as it strives to reduce its impact on the marine environment.  NAMEPA members, in particular, are committed to “Save our Seas”, but this approach is not without its hurdles. Complex regulations require support to insure understanding and competence and to devise an appropriate strategy for each company.

Discussion topics will include Global Projections for Shipping, Regulatory Outlook and Legal Hot Spots. Speakers will include: Professor Maria Burns of University of Houston; CAPT Verne Gifford of U.S. Coast Guard and Jon Waldron of Blank Rome LLC. There will also be panel discussions on Technologies of the Future and Post COP21: Impact on Shipping. Panel members will include: CAPT Kevin Coyne of Liberian Registry; CAPT Anuj Chopra of RightShip and Denise McCafferty of Royal Caribbean Cruises, Ltd.

Ole Chr.schroder

The conference keynote speaker will be Jim Muschalik, vice president, global marine commercial and development at SeaRiver Maritime. Muschalik will provide an Energy Outlook. The conference will close with a Senior Leadership Roundtable discussion on Pathways to Sustainability with Ole Chr. Schroder of Scorpio Tankers, Eric Clarke of Noble Drilling, Nicolas Stillman of Clarksons Capital Markets and more. The discussion will be moderated and include delegate involvement.
