July 13, 2020- The Executive Committee of the American Salvage Association (ASA) announced that Ms. Lindsay Malen–Habib is taking on the role of ASA President effective immediately. Lindsay has been an active ASA member for over 10 years and most recently has served as ASA Secretary-Treasurer and Vice President. As President, Lindsay’s experience in maritime salvage and business development will drive continued growth, foster partner relationships, and expand ASA’s footprint.
“I am honored to assume the position of President of this incredible organization,” stated Lindsay in accepting the leadership role. “I am grateful to Tim Williamson for his leadership and for ensuring a seamless transition. We have a tremendously vibrant and valuable organization that contributes greatly to the safety of the maritime industry. Together we can increase our impact, scope of work, and role in the maritime community.”
Ms. Malen-Habib’s appointment is an historic event for the organization as the first woman to serve as President of the ASA. “Lindsay’s appointment as President underscores the ASA’s commitment to diversity and inclusion,” remarked Jim Elliott, the ASA’s immediate past President. “I am confident the ASA will continue to grow and continuously improve its salvage capabilities throughout the Americas under Lindsay’s leadership.
Lindsay Malen-Habib currently holds the position as Resolve Marine Group’s Manager of Client Services based in Fort Lauderdale, FL, where she brings over 15 years’ experience in maritime emergency response, business development and marketing to the group. Additionally, she has extensive experience in emergency response contingency planning and compliance, salvage and wreck removal, and corporate communications.
Lindsay comes from a family maritime background with a focus in emergency response. She is founder of the first US chapter of YoungShip- YoungShip Texas- and is an active member of WISTA FL. Lindsay is an adjunct member of the Maritime Law Association and sits as Vice President of the Salvage Committee of the MLA. Lindsay represented formally TITAN Salvage as their Director of Business Development for 5 year,s inclusive of the operation of the Costa Concordia Wreck Removal, the largest wreck removal to date.
