The International Maritime Club (IMC) has expanded its network with the inclusion of two new Dubai-based member associations, the Emirates Marine Environmental Group (EMEG) and the National Association of Freight and Logistics (NAFL).
EMEG, a non-profit organization established in 1996, is committed to preserving biodiversity in the United Arab Emirates. The organization is well-known for their conservation efforts, particularly in planting mangroves and developing strategies to protect endangered wildlife. The organization is led by Major Ali Saqer Sultan Al Suwaidi and is committed to preserving biodiversity in the United Arab Emirates
On the other hand, NAFL, established in 1992, is a non-governmental organization representing freight forwarders globally. The association, headquartered in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, was primarily founded to unify all the major players in the UAE freight forwarding, logistics, and shipping industry under one umbrella. It has been collaborating with the International Federation of Freight Forwarders Associations (FIATA) since its inception.
The membership with IMC will provide both associations with a larger platform to connect with marine professionals and communities worldwide.

Chemical Challenger Receives Green Award GHG Label for Wind Technology Innovation
The Chemical Challenger, a chemical tanker operated by Dutch shipping company Chemship, has made maritime history by becoming the first vessel to earn the prestigious Green Award GHG Label for CO2 reduction through wind technology. Equipped with Econowind’s revolutionary VentoFoil wind-assisted propulsion system, the 16,000-ton tanker underwent a groundbreaking retrofit, setting a new standard for sustainability in the industry. The installation of four 16-meter-high aluminium wind sails aims to slash the vessel’s CO2 emissions by 10% annually, equivalent to reducing approximately 850 tons of CO2 emissions per year. Jan Fransen, Executive Director of Green Award Foundation, hailed this milestone as a significant advancement in promoting sustainable shipping practices. Chemship CEO Niels Grotz expressed pride in the recognition, highlighting the companys commitment to environmental stewardship. Developed by Dutch firm Econowind, the VentoFoil system employs smart vacuum technology to amplify wind force, paving the way for substantial emissions reductions. The Chemical Challengers pioneering voyage signifies a major stride towards a cleaner, more sustainable future for the maritime industry.
