The Thai Yachting Business Association (TYBA) has joined the International Maritime Club (IMC), enhancing global maritime collaboration.
Established in 2006 as the Thai Marine Business Association (TMBA), TYBA succeeded the Marine Alliance of Thailand (MAT), which abolished import duties on new yachts in 2004, boosting Thailands yachting sector. TYBA, a volunteer-run non-profit, supports yacht builders, charter operators, brokers, marinas, repair services, and related businesses throughout Thailand.
TYBAs mission is to foster networking among marine leisure industry stakeholders to improve the growth, safety, and quality of yachting in Thailand. It collaborates with government bodies like the Marine Department, Customs Department, Ministry of Tourism and Sports, and the Tourism Authority of Thailand to address industry issues.
Joining the IMC allows TYBA to further its mission, tackle industry challenges, and promote members interests on a global platform.
In a significant development, Sailors Society has joined the International Maritime Club. For over two centuries, Sailors Society has supported seafarers and their families globally.
The Societys Wellness at Sea program helps seafarers manage loneliness, financial concerns, stress, and relationship challenges. Their unique "Circle of Care" approach ensures comprehensive support. The Crisis Response Network offers 24/7 global care and support for critical incidents.
Led by CEO Sara Baade since September 2020, the organization benefits from strong governance by its trustees, who ensure compliance and support the senior leadership team.
Joining the IMC will help Sailors Society advance its mission and further support seafarers worldwide.

Maersk Expands Green Fleet with Christening of Third Methanol-Enabled Vessel, Antonia Maersk
Danish shipping giant A.P. Moller Maersk has further expanded its fleet with the addition of the third large dual-fuel methanol-enabled container vessel, named Antonia Maersk. The vessel, officially christened by Danish wind power leader Vestas during a ceremony in Aarhus, Denmark, on August 9, 2024, is part of a series of 18 eco-friendly new builds designed for green methanol operations. Built by HD Hyundai Heavy Industries in Ulsan, South Korea, the 350-meter-long vessel boasts a 16,000 TEU capacity and features an innovative design with the bridge and accommodation placed at the front for enhanced fuel efficiency. The vessel is equipped with a dual-fuel engine from MAN Energy Solutions, allowing it to operate on methanol. This milestone follows the christening of Maersk’s first and second large methanol-enabled vessels, Ane Maersk and Astrid Maersk, earlier this year. The next vessel in this pioneering series will be christened by Nike at the Port of Los Angeles on August 27, 2024

Anglo-Eastern Reaches Milestone with 100,000 cbm of LNG Bunkered Across Fleet
Anglo-Eastern, a Hong Kong-based ship manager, has achieved a significant milestone by bunkering 100,000 cbm of liquefied natural gas (LNG) across its fleet of LNG dual-fuel vessels. This landmark accomplishment was reached through 35 successful LNG bunkering operations, in collaboration with maritime industry partners such as Anglo American, BOCOM Leasing, and MOL Chemical Tankers, which utilize a cleaner-burning alternative to traditional marine fuels, are a key component in reducing greenhouse gas emissions and promoting sustainability within the maritime industry. To ensure well-trained crews, Anglo-Eastern launched in-house LNG dual-fuel courses in 2021, incorporating simulators and VR training. Additionally, the company has partnered with Wärtsilä and DNVs Veracity platform for vessel compliance reporting, and with MAN Energy Solutions to develop digital products and test engine performance.

Bernhard Schulte Shipmanagement Joins SEA-LNG Coalition to Promote LNG as Marine Fuel
Bernhard Schulte Shipmanagement (BSM), a prominent maritime services company, has joined the SEA-LNG coalition, an industry group promoting LNG as a marine fuel. BSM, managing over 100 gas carriers, including nearly 30 LNG dual-fuel ships and two LNG bunker vessels, brings substantial operational experience to the coalition. SEA-LNG highlighted BSM’s robust safety standards, noting the company’s compliance with International Safety Management (ISM) requirements through regular reviews and audits by the Oil Companies International Marine Forum’s (OCIMF) Tanker Management and Self-Assessment (TMSA).
