"Mighty Mariner" Sets Sail: IMI and IMC Chart Course for Maritime Careers

In a groundbreaking collaboration, the International Maritime Institute (IMI) joined forces with the International Maritime Club (IMC) to organize "Mighty Mariner," a career guidance program tailored specifically for maritime students. The event, held on Monday, October 7th, took place at the Maharashtra Academy Of Naval Education And Training (MANET) in Pune, showcasing the maritime industry's commitment to nurturing future talent.

The IMC, a global forum comprising over 80 maritime associations and their member companies, partnered with IMI to bring this unique opportunity to aspiring maritime professionals. Adding to the event's prestige was the involvement of ARIES ENERGY, a prominent UAE-based maritime group with operations spanning 29 countries, and its affiliate, the Aries International Maritime Research Institute (AIMRI).

The program featured an impressive lineup of industry experts sharing their knowledge and insights. Sir Sohan Roy - the Founder Chairman of Aires Energy delivered a talk on "How to become an Industry Ready Professional," while Mr. Basanth Konat, Senior Director at Aries Energy, discussed "Energy efficiency and its importance in future of international shipping." Mr. Thulasidas, General Manager of I & M at Aries Marine & Engineering Services, highlighted the "Importance of Inspection & Maintenance Services in the Maritime Industry."

Further enriching the program, Mr. Shahid Basheer, a Mumbai-based Marine Surveyor and Director of J Basheer Associates, shared his expertise on "Handling of Maritime Casualties and Claims." Ms. Sandra K Anil, Chief Educator at AIMRI, spoke about "How to follow passion with Profession" and introduced attendees to Aries Overseas Recruitment Services and AIMRI projects, emphasizing placement opportunities for students.

Under the leadership of Capt. Ragesh Lal - the HR Head of Aries Energy, the event also introduced the Hartoise Training Program, designed to enhance time management and personal development skills crucial for success in the maritime industry.

Capt. Prerit Misra, the principal of MANET, and his team graciously hosted the event, honoring the speakers for their valuable contributions. Adding an element of excitement, a maritime quiz competition was held for the MANET students, with Atharv Laxmikant Haware clinching first place, followed by Shivansh Jaiswal and Jay Shah in second and third places, respectively.

For over 17 years, the International Maritime Club has been a unifying force in the industry, fostering collaboration, knowledge exchange, and growth across the maritime world. Known for prestigious events such as the Golden Helm Awards and the IMC Honorary Doctorate Leadership Excellence Awards, the IMC continues to celebrate visionary leaders who have significantly impacted maritime trade.
