IMC Maritime Career Guidance Event "Mighty Mariner" Pune Edition 2024

The International Maritime Institute (IMI) and the International Maritime Club (IMC) successfully concluded Pune edition of their collaborative career guidance program, "Mighty Mariner," on Monday, October 7th. The event, held at the Maharashtra Academy Of Naval Education And Training (MANET) in Pune, brought together maritime students and industry experts, showcasing the maritime sector's commitment to developing future talent.

The program featured a distinguished panel of speakers who shared their expertise with the attendees. Sir Sohan Roy, Founder Chairman of Aries Energy, presented insights on becoming an industry-ready professional. Mr. Basanth Konat, Senior Director at Aries Energy, discussed the future of international shipping, focusing on energy efficiency. Mr.Thulasidas, General Manager of I & M at Aries Marine & Engineering Services, highlighted the importance of inspection and maintenance services in the maritime industry.

Further enriching the event, Mr. Shahid Basheer, a Mumbai-based Marine Surveyor and Director of J Basheer Associates, shared his knowledge on handling maritime casualties and claims. Ms. Sandra K Anil, Chief Educator at Aries International Maritime Research Institute (AIMRI), spoke about aligning passion with profession and introduced students to placement opportunities through Aries Overseas Recruitment Services and AIMRI projects.

The event also introduced the Hartoise Training Program, led by Capt. Ragesh Lal, HR Head of Aries Energy. This program aims to enhance time management and personal development skills crucial for success in the maritime industry. Adding an element of excitement, a maritime quiz competition was held for MANET students, with Atharv Laxmikant Haware securing first place, followed by Shivansh Jaiswal and Jay Shah in second and third places, respectively.

Capt. Prerit Misra, the principal of MANET, and his team hosted the event, acknowledging the speakers for their valuable contributions. The "Mighty Mariner" program stands as a testament to the maritime industry's dedication to nurturing talent and fostering innovation, ensuring a bright future for the next generation of maritime professionals.
