The School of Maritime Studies at VISTAS, Chennai, proudly hosted the prestigious Mighty Mariner Career Guidance event on March 27th, 2025. This significant initiative was meticulously organized through a collaboration between the International Maritime Institute (IMI) and the International Maritime Club (IMC).

The transformative program, conducted from 10 AM to 4 PM, brought together esteemed maritime organizations Aries Energy, Aries International Maritime Research Institute (AIMRI), and Aries Overseas Services. The event served as a comprehensive career guidance platform where aspiring maritime professionals interacted with industry veterans and gained valuable insights into the maritime sector.

Dr. Capt. N. Kumar, Director of the School of Maritime Studies addressed the gathering. Distinguished speakers including Ms. Sandra K. Anil, Chief Educator at AIMRI, and Dr. N. Godhantaraman, Director of UGC-Human Resources Development Centre, shared their expertise on various aspects of maritime careers and education.

Mr. Nikeel Idnani from UAE, presented the topic Communication Skills in the Maritime Field, remotely. With his extensive background transitioning from marine engineering to shore-based roles, Mr. Idnani brought valuable perspectives of communication skills from his experience as Honorary Secretary of IMarEST UAE branch. Dr. Ramesh Kanneganti, Founder and Executive Director of the Center for Human Security Studies (CHSS), delivered a comprehensive presentation on "AI - Challenges for Maritime Security: Navigating Modern Threats and Technologies." Mr. Leroy Dias from UAE, founder of the maritime technology company SteelCorr, presented insights on business opportunities in the Blue Economy.

A special highlight of the event was an online session by Sir Sohan Roy, a Forbes-listed entrepreneur and global maritime leader, who addressed the gathering on Leadership Qualities in the Maritime Sector. The event also featured presentations on the innovative Hartoise Certification program, designed to enhance individual efficiency through comprehensive time management and personal growth strategies.
