On 18th July 2025, the International Maritime Institute (IMI), in association with the International Maritime Club (IMC), successfully hosted the Mighty Mariner – Maritime Career Guidance Summit at Ravindra Bhavan, Vasco-da-Gama, Goa, in collaboration with IMS Goa. This flagship initiative continued its legacy of connecting aspiring maritime professionals with global industry leaders and offering valuable mentorship to the next generation of seafarers.

The full-day summit, held from 10 AM to 4 PM, featured an engaging lineup of sessions that spotlighted crucial career themes, leadership journeys, and policy-level insights for students in the maritime domain.

The event commenced with an impactful talk from Sir Sohan Roy, Founder-Chairman of Aries Group and AIMRI. His session, titled “Industrial Etiquettes of a True Professional,” emphasized the mindset, behavior, and discipline essential to succeed in the maritime industry.

Capt. (Dr.) Daniel Joseph, Deputy Director General (Crew) at the Directorate General of Shipping, Government of India, addressed the gathering with a compelling talk on “Support for Seafarers – DG Shipping.” His session highlighted the regulatory frameworks, welfare schemes, and evolving support systems designed to safeguard and empower Indian maritime professionals.

In the post-lunch session, Capt. Nitin Dhond, Director of Angriya Sea Eagle Cruises, delivered a stirring address on “Anchoring Ambitions, Navigating Challenges: The Spirit of a Mariner.” He shared practical wisdom drawn from his own sea-to-shore experiences, encouraging students to stay resilient in the face of maritime challenges.

Following this, Mr. Sarvesh Dhond, Managing Director of Marinetech, captivated the audience with his leadership journey in the session titled “From Engine Room to Boardroom: My Voyage of Leadership.” His talk served as a testament to the diverse opportunities in the maritime sector and the power of adaptability and vision in career growth.

The final session was led by Mr. Shivram Kamat, Director of IMS Goa, who delivered a forward-looking address titled “Steering into the Future: Shaping Marine Engineers at IMS Goa.” His insights focused on the evolving expectations from marine engineering graduates and how institutions must gear up to nurture talent aligned with future industry demands.

A special moment of the event was the memento distribution ceremony, joined by Mr. Yatish Dempo, Director of Dempo Group Holding, to honor the distinguished speakers and contributors.
